    Phil Coates


    Phil Coates is an accomplished remote location filmmaker and photographer with a proven track record of working on assignment in some of the most challenging and extreme environments on earth in temperatures from -43°C to +48°C and altitudes of up to 8,000 metres.

    Previous documentary productions for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, Discovery International and National Geographic Television include; North Pole: Living On Thin Ice’, ‘Everest Beyond The Limit’, ‘Blizzard Race To The Pole’, ‘Ice Break Heart’, ‘Going North’ and ‘Five Miles High’. Over the years Phil has photographed and filmed numerous high profile explorers and adventurers including legendary 8,000m mountaineer Alan Hinkes OBE, BBC Tribe presenter Bruce Parry and Britains record-breaking female polar explorer Ann Daniels.

    Most recently Phil filmed and photographed  in temperatures down to minus 43°C as embedded director cameraman on the Catlin Arctic Survey pulling a sled weighing well over 100kg in the process!     Phil has also led and participated in over 30 expeditions to the greater ranges and polar regions, he is an International Mountain Leader and in between climbing trips at Leeds University Phil managed to study human physiology, specialising in human performance in extreme environments.
