    Ed Stafford

On the 9th August 2010, explorer Ed Stafford walked into the history books after completing the longest jungle expedition ever undertaken to become the first man to walk the length of the Amazon River.

Previously thought of as an ‘impossible’ feat, Ed’s success in navigating the entire length of the 4000 mile River on foot from its source in Peru to the mouth of the river on the shores of
Brazil proved once and for all that if you have a dream, and you have the determination to succeed then nothing is impossible. Stafford (35) a former Captain in the Devon & Dorset’s Light Infantry regiment of the British Army, filmed and blogged his deadly journey along the longest river in the world. His adventures engaged followers around the globe providing an exciting and enthralling route for others into the Amazon jungle.

His dangerous expedition has been described by The Times as ‘a tale which has captured our imagination’.

His epic adventure was picked up and followed in the United States by both CNN and ABC. CNN followed Ed and his assistant Cho’s final three weeks as they neared the close of their expedition.

As Ed and Cho ran into the sea on Maruda Beach on the 9th August 2010, their story made headline news around the globe, featuring in over 900 articles and on every major news channel in the UK and United States. Ed’s mission to inspire was complete. His tale of true grit, bravery and determination to succeed against all odds has led to him being described by The Daily Mail as; ‘Britain’s most intrepid hero since Scott of the Antarctic,’ and ‘A true hero’ by The Times.

The world’s leading explorer, Sir Ranulph Fiennes OBE has said of Ed Stafford; ‘Stafford is a truly magnificent demonstration of the stubborn grit which you need to succeed.’
